Company of Heroes Review

So I've been spending a lot of time playing Company of Heroes with all the expansions (Tales of Valor and Opposing Fronts). I got it as part of the THQ humble bundle a while ago which included Saints Row the third, Darksiders, and a few other games I haven't got around to installing yet. This cost me about 5 dollars total and was one of the best package deals I've ever seen!

So far, I think this game is GREAT. Company of Heroes is a real time strategy (RTS) game with a unique twist that I haven't seen in many other games. You produce squads of units that have different roles and use the environment for tactical positioning. Placing your squads behind trees will provide your units with more cover than placing them in the middle of a road. The game has a unique ability tree that allows you to level up various buffs and active abilities for you to use while in the game. You can choose to play from a variety of nations, each with unique units.

The campaign of this game is great so far. I have only been able to play through a few of the campaigns, but the missions are entertaining and represent historical moments from the past. Being able to play through these really throws you back in time and puts you in the action. The campaign also allows you to choose your difficulty level which I enjoy since I found the campaign to be too easy on normal difficulty (I love a good challenge).

The multiplayer was great as well. The game features a variety of scenarios that you could partake in with a team. In the scenario "Operation: Stonewall", you and up to 3 players are holed up in the middle of a town and forced to hold off waves of enemy forces. This is a ton of fun and the most popular of the scenarios. Of course, if you want good ol' PvP, there are a variety of options 1v1, 2v2, etc. The online multiplayer features a ranking system that allows you to progress and relate your skill level to the other players as well.

The only downside to this game was the quantity of players for online multiplayer. This game doesn't seem to have a huge following since queue times were ridiculous. It is also hard to find people hosting scenario games at certain times. If you're able to get a good deal on this game and its expansions, I highly recommend trying it out! Its tons of fun and will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Live Streaming of League of Legends and DotA 2 now available!

Alright guys, so I started up a twitch.tv account to stream my games!!

Heres the link!:
http://www.twitch.tv/rushingfire9699

I will primarily be streaming games of League of Legends and DotA 2, but I will also be streaming games that I play through before making a review. Starcraft II is also a good possibility since it is very popular and has a lot of traction in the gaming community. Most of the streams will be of competetive games, but I will also have a few goofy games thrown in there once in a while just to troll or have some fun with friends. Sometimes its important to troll around just to get all your frustrations out or try a new strategy :) All video will be recorded to the site for future playback if anyone is interested in seeing some actual gameplay footage. Please follow me and let me know if there is any content you would like to see specifically! Also, if anyone would like to become a mod for my channel, please let me know and I'll set you up!

If any of you are interested in playing games with me while I stream, please post a comment with your screen name or just add me and send me a message! :)

Like I mentioned before, I am completely new to this blogging experience as well as streaming. If any of you have suggestions or criticism about the blog or the live stream, then PLEASE don't hesitate to post a comment or send me a message! I always welcome the chance for others to help me learn new things and certainly appreciate it!

Saints Row 3

Ive been playing a lot of Saints Row 3 recently and have to admit that this game is great! I bought it as part of the THQ humble bundle for $5 and it has already been well worth the cost. This game is akin to grand theft auto, with a more comical feel. You play the leader of a gang, go on missions to earn money, and pretty much wreak havoc over the entire city. Not only can you do this solo, but you could also play with a friend as well! Although this multiplayer feature has a lot of lag (for me and the friends I have played with), it is still incredibly fun and puts a great spin on this genre of game.

The money you earn in game can go towards upgrading your gang, weapons, and attire. Additionally, you are able to steal cars and upgrade their functionality and aesthetics. This is one of my favorite features of the game, as plowing through the city at top speeds with top quality vehicles is not a luxury I can afford in real life.

The comical flair to this game has left me laughing mission after mission, as well as giving me a great way to kill some time. I highly recommend it!
